Celebrating Charter Day on the Hill

A huge thank you to UAPCS for hosting a spectacular Charter Day on the Hill at the Utah State Capitol. Under the theme "Charter by Choice," the event was a powerful testament to the importance of educational flexibility. It was an honor to witness the incredible talent of our students—from soulful musical performances and vibrant dances to the high-energy precision of a competitive jump rope team. We are proud to support the schools that empower Utah’s families to choose the best path for their children.

5 New Schools Approved
January 8, 2026
The board completed the new schools cycle for this fiscal year at the January meeting. The board was pleased to approve five new schools to move forward and finalize their charter agreements for the 2027 school year. The schools are: Ensign Leadership Academy, Ripple Academy, Louisa May Alcott Community School, Cambridge Preparatory Academy and Aspen Academy.
Applying to open a new school is an intensive process that begins with a preapplication, including an overview and presentation, and, if invited, culminates in the submission of a full application for comprehensive review. The board was impressed by the dedication, preparation, and commitment demonstrated by all prospective schools throughout this process. They recognize the significant time and effort required to gather materials and submit a complete application. Schools that were not approved received detailed feedback and were encouraged to reapply in the next cycle. Thank you to everyone involved in making this process successful.

Utah Charter School Enrollment Climbs for Fourth Consecutive Year

Utah's public charter schools have recorded a significant milestone, marking their fourth consecutive year of overall student enrollment growth, according to official figures released by the Utah State Board of Education (USBE).
The enrollment data shows 85,204 charter students are currently enrolled in Utah's K-12 charter schools. This represents an increase of 3,394 students from the previous school year, a growth of 4.15 percent. The figures underscore the growing appeal and demand for school choice options in Utah.

SCSB Innovation Grant Application Now Open!
